Help: How to Download and Play Songs Without Wifi via MyMusicCloud

We don’t think your music should be handcuffed to just one device or brand. That’s why our free MyMusicCloud app enables you to store all your songs and listen to them on any device, regardless of operating system, with or without wifi. So your only decisions are which songs to listen to  and how to play them. Those are MyMusicCloud user Chris Gill’s questions, too, and, today, we’re answering his email about how to download stored songs from the cloud and make them playable on your mobile device without wifi.

Chris’s Q: Am I right that the first time you play a track after moving it to playable from the cloud, it downloads the track?

Yes, when you play a song (or track) on a smartphone, tablet, or Samsung smartwatch, it’s automatically downloaded to that device as you listen. You can access any 250 songs at any time and store the rest in our cloud for free.

Q: Will I need to re-download this song if I try to play it on another of my devices?

Only if you want to listen to that song offline without wifi. If you have a signal, you can simply play the song and it will stream from the cloud.

Q: Will I need to re-download the track if I move it back to the cloud and some time later back to the playable list again?

Yes, when a track is moved back and forth from the storage cloud to the playable list, it will need to be downloaded again. On our mobile app, press and hold any track, album or artist. A menu pops up with the option to “Download to Device.” Select it to make that track / album / artist available for offline listening. To skip this step and listen to your entire collection anytime, upgrade to our Unlimited plan for just 40 / year (about the same price as eating 4 medium pizzas all year). With the Unlimited plan, you can also get any album from our Music Store for FREE.

Q: Is there a way to bulk-move songs between the cloud and the playable section apart from just ticking the ‘-‘ symbol for each track?

Get a Smart Playlist

Whenever you click on a song, album or artist, you can instantly receive a playlist of similar singers and songs from your collection by clicking the blue triangle and “Create Smart Playlist.” Don’t like some of the songs there? On your phone, simply swipe left on the title and it’s gone, baby, gone.

Listen without Wifi

When wifi fails, you can keep the party going by playing songs from your library. Just make sure they’re downloaded to your computer, smartphone, tablet or Samsung smart TV by finding and clicking the blue triangle. A blue arrow on our mobile app indicates the song has already been downloaded. (More here.)

Shuffle Your Songs

You can now shuffle all the songs in your listening “Q.” On the website dashboard, click the Q on the lower-right corner of your screen and select “Shuffle” at the top of the song list. On the mobile app, go to the Q then tap the shuffle icon on the lower-left corner of your mobile screen.

See Song Lyrics

Instantly see all the ridiculous things Redfoo and Rihanna are singing with our Lyrics feature (photo above). The Lyrics button is located at the top of the screen for the song you’re listening to.

Use Keyboard Shortcuts

If you love hitting “Control + any key” on your keyboard to get things done, you’ll dig our keyboard shortcuts. Go to the MyMusicCloud website and hit “Shift + ?” to see a full list of time-saving keys. For future reference, they are: Spacebar = Play / Pause, Arrow Up = Volume Up, Arrow Down = Volume Down, Arrow Left = Previous Song, Arrow Right = Next Song, q = Open / Close “Q”, s = Shuffle, p = New Playlist. (Sorry, not available on smartphones.)

This Music App Streams Songs from Dropbox, Google, iTunes and More

Help: How to Burn a CD from Your MyMusicCloud Library

Storing your music in the cloud is great when you want to listen offline or while traveling and enjoying more outdoor fun. But sometimes you still want a CD to play in the car, or just to store in your home music collection. We get that.

Here’s how to burn your MyMusicCloud songs onto a CD …

Step 1. On your laptop or computer, find your Music folder. This is a folder where all your backup music files are stored, including those from iTunes, Amazon, Google Drive, and MyMusicCloud. (In Windows, it’s usually a “My Music” link from the Start Menu. In Apple OS, open the Finder and choose Go > Home > Music.)

Step 2. Inside the Music folder, there should be another folder called MyMusicCloud. This backup folder contains copies of all the music files in your MyMusicCloud account, even those imported from different devices (including smartphones, tablets, and other computers).

Step 3. Insert a blank CD-R into your CD / DVD drive. The computer will most likely ask if you want to burn an audio disc, and which program you want to use. Choose one and select the album you want to burn or drag and drop songs to create a playlist. Click Start Burn.

Don’t see the songs or music you want to burn to a CD? Go to your applications folder and look for MyMusicCloud’s Sync Agent. The Sync Agent automatically backs up the music from your MyMusicCloud account. Launch the Sync agent and open the Settings menu. Then click “Sync Now.” Any new or missing songs should start to appear in the MyMusicCloud folder.

We’re making it easier and more intuitive to use the MyMusicCloud store-and-play service all the time, and we’ve upgraded it again. You already know our app makes your music library available on every device you use – PC, laptop, tablet, phone and even smart watches and smart TVs.  But another cool thing about our cloud-based music delivery service is that, with a few simple swipes, you can listen to your songs while offline — on a plane, subway train or even rappelling down a Tasmanian rock-face.

So how do you access your music when you’re offline? Here’s a quick user tip from our tech squad.

Songs you want to hear without wifi first need to be “downloaded” to your phone or tablet. There are a couple easy ways to accomplish this …

1. On our mobile app, press and hold any track, album or artist. A menu pops up with the option to “Download to Device.” Select it to make that track/album/artist available for offline listening.

2. Separately, there is also an option to download all content you add to your “Q” automatically. You can turn this option ON or OFF in the ACCOUNT section of the app. When this function is ON, any music you add to your Q to listen to is downloaded to your device automatically.

Music that has been successfully downloaded will display a small blue arrow icon. The arrow means that music is ready for offline rocking.

How many songs can I store? What do those phone icons mean? How do I make a playlist? If you’ve just joined our cloud-based music delivery service or are curious about some of these dashboard features, here are answers to these common FAQs.

How many songs can I store?
MyMusicCloud enables you to upload and store your entire music collection in our cloud completely FREE, so you can access it anytime on up to 10 devices of your choice. You can upload your songs using our Desktop Sync Agent, Dropbox and Google Drive, or by simply clicking the blue Upload arrow icon, found in the top right-hand corner of the dash on our web portal (see image below). The Upload icon opens a box that helps you select and import your music, so you can enjoy any of your 250 songs free seamlessly on any mobile phone, tablet, laptop, Samsung Gear smartwatch, Samsung Smart TV, and more. It doesn’t matter which carrier or brand you have, your songs are always available to play on- or off-line. Don’t want limits on your music library? Choose the “Unlimited” membership and play any song you own for just $40 / year (less than the cost of 1 frappuccino a month).

How much memory do I have left? At the top of the dashboard is the “Account” button. Click on that and a usage bar pops up showing how many songs you’ve uploaded and how much memory is left. If you’ve exceeded your free 250 songs, a CLOUD tab will also appear in the top navigation bar. To move songs you’re tired of back into the cloud, click the Playable tab on the left, hover over any track and click the “-” icon to send the track to storage. Then you can rotate new ones in.

What are the phone icons for? Once in MyMusicCloud, your songs are automatically sorted by tracks, albums, artists, and playlists. On the web version under TRACKS, the phone icon indicates whether that song is synced with your mobile device or not, so it can be played offline. Phone icons with a check mark represent synced songs; grayed-out phone icons with a slash through them are un-synced songs. Accidentally un-synced songs from your phone or tablet? You’ll need to sync them through the website. Read how to recover them here.

How do I play, sync, or delete songs? Move your cursor over a song title and click twice to play it. You’ll also see a blue triangle, or “more” menu button, appear in the lower right-hand corner. The menu button helps you select songs to play next in your listening queue (at right); add a tune to an existing playlist; edit the title of a song; sync it with your phone; or delete it

How do I create a playlist? Just highlight the song you want, click the “more” button and choose “Add to Playlist.” A new window pops up asking you to name the new playlist or add the song to an existing list. The playlist then appears in the bottom left corner of the dashboard, and also on your mobile device once you’ve downloaded the app. (Right now, you can only create and edit playlists on our Web dash, not phones.)
